WHO ARE WE?
BOOKBRIDGE is a German-Swiss social enterprise that supports access to education around the world by setting up learning centers as social businesses. Locally in Cambodia, we cooperate with the Cambodia Scouts, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and other organizations to providing local entrepreneurs who dream of having their own business in the Field of Education and want to foster their personal development and sustainable livelihoods as well as broaden their knowledge and pass it on to others.
WHAT TASKS ARE WAITING FOR YOU?
Setting up your learning center: You will work with a team of European candidates from our Capability Program who will support you and your local team in researching, planning and setting up your learning center. You will be required to find suitable premises and to assist with the research and development towards the business plan. You form a local team to run a learning center that provide free access to books, free educational activities and paid educational services that get your learning center became financially self-sustained.
Managing Learning Center: Once the learning center is opened and operational you will ensure the premises are suitable for current and future needs. You manage daily operations together with local staff (e.g. user registration, check in and out). You lead by example, provide motivation to staff and embody the vision of the learning center, enabling staff to take responsibility for improvement. You are responsible for reporting to BOOKBRIDGE.
Offering and developing activities and courses: You direct the design and implementation of a curriculum, which inspires and engages the local community. You organize and offer activities and seminars that are free (e.g. games, movie nights). Besides free activities and seminars you set up a paid course system (e.g. English, IT) to make the Learning Center financially self-sustained.
Maintaining network: Besides managing your learning center, you work closely with our BOOKBRIDGE Country Manager, maintain relationships with our partners and the local community as well as fill in reporting forms to send to BOOKBRIDGE.
WHO ARE YOU?
You have thought of running your own business, especially in the Field of Education, but you don’t have (enough) financial support and you are looking for an opportunity of being powered by an institution so that you could get your business kicked-off. You are inspired by the idea of doing something innovative for the community. You have strong ties to the community. You enjoy working with people and motivating your team to make the Learning Center a success. You have a long-term commitment to the learning center and are willing to take it on as your own social business venture. You speak the local language and English and you ideally have or are willing to adapt the following: Educational or business administration background (academic degree would be appreciated), experience in teaching and working with children /young adults, organizational skills, professional attitude, IT skills.

WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU?
You become an owner of a Learning Center and you are allowed for a high degree of self-responsibility. You will be provided with a soft loan of 20000 Euro to get your business kicked off and cover your operational cost until it becomes sustainable, which is empowered by BOOKBRIDGE. You will also be provided with trainings that improve your personal and professional development.
